On Friday, September 12nd, 2025, until Sunday, September 14th, 2025, a workshop was held in online and offline formats by the Undergraduate Program of Japanese Language and Culture at Diponegoro University, in collaboration with the Association of Japanese Literature Studies in Indonesia (ASKJI: Asosiasi Studi Kesusastraan Jepang di Indonesia) and the Japan Foundation. The workshop featured Dr. Yoshiaki Otta from Waseda University, Japan, as the keynote speaker, with Dian Annisa Nur Ridha, S.S., M.A., as the moderator. The workshop brought together lecturers of Japanese literature from various universities across Java.

On the first day, the workshop was conducted in a hybrid format, with Dr. Otta delivering his lecture via Zoom. He emphasized the importance for students to study the history of Japanese literature in order to foster a deeper understanding of its contexts. During his presentation, lecturers were invited to engage in discussion and reflect on several questions he posed. The first day concluded with a sharing session, where participating lecturers exchanged insights on the teaching of Japanese literature at their respective institutions.
The second day of the event began with an opening by the MC, which was then taken over by Ms. Rouli Esther Pasaribu S.S., M.Si., M.A., Ph.D., as moderator. The next session was a presentation by Dr. Otta explaining the historical criticism of literature that occurred during the development of literature in Japan. In the middle of the presentation, the lecturers were invited to discuss and think about several questions he posed. The presentation ended with Dr. Ottai showed several books he brought from Japan as examples of the material he had explained.
After break, the next discussion session focused on the Japanese Literature Textbook Design and the timeline for its writing. After various opinions and drafts were formed, the next activity was the awarding of souvenirs from Diponegoro University to Dr. Otta and the lecturers who attended this workshop. Then, the event concluded with a few words from Mr. Zaki Ainul Fadli S.S., M. Hum., as the Head of the Undergraduate Study Program of Japanese Language and Culture at Diponegoro University.
