Semarang, May 31, 2024 – Asbi Suar Fandi, a seventh-semester student of the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program at Diponegoro University (Undip), has brought pride to his alma mater. In the national “Badai Bungaku Taikai” Humanities Studies Competition organized by the Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Brawijaya University, from May 1-30, 2024, Asbi won first place in the Shodou category.
Shodou, the art of Japanese calligraphy, requires precision and beauty in every stroke of the brush. Asbi managed to impress the judges with his shodou work which was so beautiful and meaningful. This victory proves that Indonesian students are capable of competing at the national and even international levels in the field of traditional Japanese art.
Asbi’s victory is certainly a source of pride for the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program at Undip. “Zaki Ainul Fadli, Head of Study Program, “We are very proud of Asbi’s achievement. This shows the quality of our students who are not only excellent in academics but also in the arts.”
“Badai Bungaku Taikai” is an annual competition aimed at increasing interest and appreciation for humanities studies, especially Japanese literature. The competition is participated in by students from various universities throughout Indonesia.
With the brilliant achievements achieved by Asbi, it is hoped that more and more Indonesian students will be interested in learning the Japanese language and culture and developing their potential in the arts.
