Diponegoro University carried out Himagoes with several Japanese Language and Culture students. Himagoes is one of the programme from the community service sector of HMPS S1 Language and Japanese Culture which aims to teach Japanese to high school students in the city of Semarang. This year Himagoes was held offline at SMKN 9 Semarang for 3 Consecutive days, learning Japanese Language and Culture at each meeting.

The material was explained by volunteers from Japanese Language and Culture students, called shidousha. The first Himagoes meeting was held on July 29 2024, the material presented by the shidoushas was basic Japanese letters such as hiragana and katakana. Then the next day on July 30 2024, at the second meeting the shidoushas taught sentence patterns on how to introduce themselves in Japanese. And at the last meeting on July 31 2024, shidoushas presented material about culture in Japan, such as festivals in Japan and also introduced Japanese pop or what is usually called as Jpop. In addition, the committee also introduced the cultural festival belonging to the Japanese language and culture study program which is usually held every year, namely ORENJI.

The participants were very active in taking part in Himagoes activities at every meeting. The committee has also prepared various prizes for active participants. During the teaching, the shidoushas were also accompanied by lecturers from the Japanese language and culture study program.

With this Himagoes activity, it is hoped that it will be able to build friendly relations between Undip’s Japanese language and culture study program of Diponegoro University and SMKN 9 Semarang. In addition, participants are also expected to gain new knowledge from the materials that have been given.
