Japanese Language and Culture Undergraduate Students Win Japanese Story Telling Competition

UNDIP Japanese Language and Culture students made another achievement. This time Asbi Suar Fandi from class 2022 won 1st place in the Japan Corner’s Japanese Story Telling competition held by Tanjungpura University Pontianak. Asbi returned to be the first winner in the Story Telling competition after previously he had also won the national level Shodou competition twice.

Asbi’s motivation in participating in the Story Telling competition was because Asbi had previously participated in a similar competition when he was in vocational school. Then, also because this competition was held with an online video collection system so that it could be done anywhere. In fact, Asbi even brought the Story Telling script wherever he travelled to practice.

Asbi’s preparation started with Hatsuon (pronunciation) practice, followed by Gesture practice in front of the mirror. Then entered the recording stage for 4 days and editing for 3 days in between lectures.

At the time of submission, Asbi said that he was surprised by the performance of the other participants which he thought had more preparation. Even so, Asbi remained optimistic that he would at least get third place. But unexpectedly, during the announcement Asbi won 1st place in the Story Telling competition.

The experience gained by Asbi is expected to further increase the enthusiasm and confidence of all Japanese Language and Culture Students so that they can continue to make achievements in various types of competitions.
