STORYTELLING TRAINING (MUKASHI BANASHI) IN JAPANESE LANGUAGE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SEMARANG CITY

Storytelling is an activity found in various cultures in the world. Although simple, storytelling activities require certain methods and techniques so that listeners are attracted to the content of the fairy tale and feel the suspense of the story. Good storytelling will certainly make the listener imagine and as if entering and being carried away by the atmosphere of telling told by the storyteller. Based on this, an event was held in the form of Mukashi Banashi storytelling training for high school students. The community service activity was held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Undip Faculty of Cultural Sciences Semarang. This activity began at 2:00 p.m. and ended at 5:00 p.m. The participants of the Mukashi Banashi storytelling training are high school students in Semarang City. The number of participants is around 40 people. This activity was also attended by almost all Japanese literature lecturers and involved several students who were directly involved in the preparation and implementation of this training. The training activity was opened by Drs. Surono, S.U. as chairman of the study program S1 Japanese Literature. Continued with the delivery of training material delivered by lecturers of Japanese Literature UNDIP. Training materials included the introduction of Mukashi Banashi, various kinds of Mukashi Banashi, and the techniques of storytelling in Mukashi Banashi in Japanese. After the delivery of the material was completed, a competition was held which was attended by representatives of high schools throughout Semarang, which was attended by approximately 40 participants. The fairy tale that must be read by participants is mukashi banashi “Momotaro”. The allocation of time for each participant to read the story is 7 to 10 minutes.
