In an effort to promote cultural exchange and understanding, two students from Chikushi Jogakuen University, Aoi-san and Rinoa-san, accompanied by Miku-san, an intern at Dejavato, made a two-day visit to the Faculty of Humanities at Diponegoro University from February 19 to 20, 2024. During their stay, the trio participated in various activities together with students of Japanese Language and Culture, including advanced grammar classes taught by Dian sensei, practicing the traditional Saman dance, making Shiratama Dango, practicing Gamelan (a traditional Javanese musical instrument), and many other activities.
The three students from the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan) expressed overwhelmingly positive impressions of their experience. Here are their comments:
Rinoa-san: “It was enjoyable. After coming here, I was surprised to find that many Indonesians are so familiar with and fond of Japanese culture.
Aoi-san: “It was enjoyable. Indonesians are very friendly, and I also like Indonesian food such as soto, nasi goreng, and mie goreng. Besides, since this is my first time in Indonesia, I hope to come back again.
Miku-san: “It was enjoyable. I’m also happy to see and dance the saman live, because I’ve only seen it in videos.
This exchange program, made possible through the cooperation of Diponegoro University, Chikushi Jogakuen University, and Dejavato, not only enriches the cultural experiences of the participating students, but also strengthens the bonds between the two nations. Professor Alamsyah, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, expressed his hope that such initiatives could be continued regularly in the future and expanded to include cooperation in other areas such as research and community service. This exchange serves as a testament to the enduring friendship and mutual respect between Indonesia and Japan, paving the way for deeper cooperation and understanding in the years to come.
