One of the Japanese Language and Culture undergraduate students named Shakira Amy Haika from the 2021 class has once again brought honor to the department after having won several competitions before. Amy has won third place in the 1st Provincial Level Japanese Language Presentation Competition with the theme “Indonesian Education in the Future,” which was held by the Semarang State University in January.
Amy has a passion for speaking and believes that her interests and talents lie in presentations, speeches, and similar activities. With her experience in participating and winning in several Japanese language competitions, it is not surprising that she has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment.
Her preparation for this presentation competition started with creating and designing the concepts that will be presented. She then wrote the presentation script along with the points, and sought assistance from her sensei to correct the Japanese language and content. Lastly, she created a PowerPoint presentation for the competition day and continued to practice diligently. Thanks to her hard work and the support of her peers and sensei, Amy was able to achieve the third place in the competition.
According to her, participating in events or competitions depends on each individual’s awareness. “If you win, alhamdulillah, and if you lose, it doesn’t mean you’re a loser, it is a step towards becoming a winner,” she said. Amy hopes that her achievement will motivate other Japanese Language and Culture students to strive for success and bring honor to the department at a national and even international level.
