Undip Japanese Language and Culture Students Become First Place Winners in Indonesian Shuji Competition at Sakura Matsuri Event

Semarang, July 29, 2024 – Asbi Suar Fandi, a seventh-semester student of the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program at Diponegoro University (Undip), has brought honor to Indonesia at the national level. In the 11th annual Sakura Matsuri event, organized by the Indonesian Japanese Alumni Community on July 27-28, 2024 at Hollywood Junction Cababeka, Cikarang, Asbi won first place in the university-level Shuji category.

This year’s Sakura Matsuri, centered in Cikarang, witnessed Asbi’s exceptional skill in Japanese calligraphy. With his stunning Shuji artwork, Asbi outperformed participants from various universities in Indonesia. This victory not only brings pride to Undip but also serves as proof that Indonesian students possess extraordinary potential in the arts, particularly in traditional Japanese art.

Ichlasul Ayyub, one of Asbi’s lecturers, expressed his pride in his student’s achievement. “Asbi is a very dedicated individual with exceptional talent in the arts. This victory is a testament to his hard work and spirit,” he said.
