World Class University Program: International Teaching Fellowship

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, a public lecture “Can AI Read Literature? Approaches to Japanese Literary Studies” was held by the Undergraduate Study Program of Japanese Language and Culture, Diponegoro University. This event presented Prof. Hibi Yoshitaka, Ph.D., from Nagoya University, Japan, as the keynote speaker, and Ms. Rouli Esther Pasaribu, S.S., M.Sc., M.A., Ph.D., as the moderator. This activity was attended by undergraduate students of Japanese Language and Culture and Japanese literature lecturers from several universities. The public lecture was held offline, taking place in the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The material presented by Prof. Hibi focused on the use of AI in the world of Japanese literature. In the middle of the presentation, the participants were invited to create haiku (Japanese poem) using a haiku generator.

After break, the next session was a workshop containing the presentation of the syllabus plan and Japanese Literature teaching modules by Mr. Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd., M.Hum., which was then continued with the presentation by Prof. Hibi. After receiving feedback from Prof. Hibi regarding the syllabus plan and Japanese Literature teaching modules, the next activity was the awarding of souvenirs from Diponegoro University to Prof. Hibi and Mrs. Rouli. The event closed with a joint documentation.

On the following day, Sunday, October 26, 2025, the workshop was held online via Zoom Meeting. It began with an opening by the MC, followed by a joint documentation. The next session was a presentation by Ms. Dian Annisa Nur Ridha, S.S., M.A., who explained the summary of the workshop discussion results that had been held the previous day. This was followed by a Q&A session and feedback from Prof. Hibi. This was followed by a discussion about future plans. The event closed with a thank you note to the participants.
